Saw this on Competitionplus.

They state the cars being initially detuned and they will be available soon with a pro-shifted trans by Liberty. Wow.

Was your brother's car Hugger Orange? If so, it's close to being my all-time dream musclecar. I saw the car right about the time you said your brother sold it.

Another poster mentioned the delayed model introduction due to the strike, and that's what I had always heard. But recently, I came across something stating that the delay was actually corporate politics (and CYA) trying to cover up a huge mistake made by Fisher Body.

The story said that the car design was approved by everyone but when it came time to actually stamp out some of the severe contours of the body (I'm thinking of the tight curve around the headlight, for instance) that Fisher Body found that their calculations were off and there were either big wrinkles or torn metal when they tried to actually produce the parts. According to the story I saw, the delay was actually due to a frantic re-design and apparently caused some shortened careers at GM.

Question Re: Sticks to auto's on new Cobra Jets?

FECARMAN---You seem to have some inside info on these cars/program coupla ??? all of the parts on the new CJ are they interchangeable with vehicles currently on the street or are you locked in whereas you hafta buy parts from Ford ??? I mean will the S'charger or heads ,blocks etc work with something a racer might already have or do you have to get a say A block, Set of heads, Intake, etc. to complete the package--Thanx in advance for your response

That video is from November when Bob and Billy Glidden driove the cars at the Street Car Supernationals at LVMS. I've since seen a video (but can't find it any more) from Liberty showing them modifying the factory Mustang six speed for those cars. I have no idea how many gears it uses as I couldn't play the whole video at the time.

By the way... after reading the long Chevy "hijack" can't a Motion car be applied for inclusion in Stock and SS? I thought the NHRA ruling on the Cobra Jets and Challengers paved the way for that.

Y'know a Motion 454 Vega with a Tunnel rammed LS7 might stand a chance against Fords!
