Hi Eddie , Pete MacRitchie here .. My 1965 was built by me here in Canada driven as a daily driver until became a race car .. I sold it long time ago & it ended up in the Boston area. Marc @ Diamond RV ran it for years before selling & building his current GT S10 Super stocker .. last I heard a fellow was running it in Super Street in Northeast division painted Red .. nice to hear from you

There used to be a guy who bracket raced a '65 that color at US 41 and RT 66. He was from northern Indiana, I think his name was Troy. He did cylinder heads under the name THP if I remember right.

Anyway, good luck finding your car. I have a soft spot for the old Chevelles too.

Thank you for the info! If anyone else remembers this car, and can get me some I-D of the owner, that might help me locate the car, that would be great.

I was going through some old photos and found something that might be helpful. Not certain if this car has been mentioned yet.

2008 US Nationals - SS/MA - # 3069

The name "Jim Meredith" on the passenger side window.

There is one that is being raced in Nostalgia S/S. It is butternut yellow, has Cragar Super Tricks, looks like the pictures of yours from Indy. I don't know who owns or drives it but it was running at last years Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green. It was driven by a female and if I remember right she either won or runner uped in N/SS at that race. You might want to try to ID that car.

As you know in those days we could not add, or subtract weight, or weigh with the driver. So we did what we had to do, to fit the class. I was at a further disadvantage because I weighed about 225# in those days, while most of my national competition drivers, were about 110# to 125#. Just ask my good friends, Jimmie Bridges, or Rodger Rosebush, what they weighed in those days. One of the best things NHRA did in the late 70's was to weigh with the driver, and add or subtract a little weight. It wasn't as much as it is now but it helped guys like me a whole bunch.

I had a '65 Chevelle convertible, built from a '64. Reasons were the 12 bolt, and the '64 250 hp 327" had 520 heads, the '65 got 461/462 heads. 1.94" Intake valves versus 1.750", and port volume. Also the 4GC carb versus the WCFB. I back-to-backed the carbs. That alone was enough to use it as a '65.

Steve's car sold about 10-12 years ago it was a 64. Lynn Engels in Watertown SD bought it. He then sold it to another gentleman in the area. Then the car ended up in Kentucky all redone and beautiful looking. The name is escaping me at the moment of who bought it though. It was run as a 4 speed car for a season or two as well. It was a pretty good car and very easy to drive.

Didn't see MJ had mentioned it on the previous page. Larry Wilson is who ended up with it.

I'm not sure that Larry Wilson's car is your old car - but I got a call the other day that said Larry was interested in selling it. Might be worth checking PM me if you want Larry's number
