Default Hydraulic Thow out bearing

Are there any stocker or super stocker stick cars using a hydraulic bearing? I have a jerico 4 speed.

Never used one in S/SS but I have used the McLeod one in a street car with a Liberty's T56 and it worked beautifully.

You may want to look at the rule book, as I am pretty sure it states no hydraulic or electric. Most convert to linkage as it's easier to get the air gap set correctly and for consistency and another place to adjust for RT. The electric statement prevents stick racers from using a magnet for releasing the clutch pedal in both stock and SS.

The 2017 rule book only speaks to air or hydraulic shifters and not clutch linkage...

Just sayin'

thank you, I have a 85 z28 that came with a hydraulic unit. I do have a manual linkage now. I was thinking in a 99 Camaro you would have to have a z-bar made. If any gen 4 stick shift guys could let me know who made it for them. thanks, jeff

Tom Russell @ Russell Performance has probably made z-bar style clutch linkage.

I am building one that is both hyd. and mechanical.
A mechanical t.o. bearing and fork pushed by a hyd. slave cylinder.

I wonder if this is legal ?

I am interested in what your are doing with the hydraulic cylinder, in whether it will be quick enough, and how big a cylinder, and how big the bore on the master cylinder. I run a hydraulic throw out bearing, that uses no fork. I don't run stock or super stock, but it is legal in my class. I don't see many hydraulic systems, except on the new cars. Very controversial. And what type of fluid you plan on using. I don't believe I would call this a hydraulic throw out bearing, I would call it a clutch hydraulic slave cylinder. Hydraulic bearing won't have a fork

Alan,

I would check with your division tech director and get clarification from them on legality. There are a few reasons why you would not want to run a hydraulic setup even if it's not a class car.

Do you want to go rounds and consistently cut a light? It's hard enough with a mechanical setup to cut a light constantly, then add the reaction rate of the fluid and those components. Depending on the ambient temperature, the viscosity is going to add another factor on your reaction.

Either way, good luck.

Its the 009 car that a friend purchased that I'm going to run.

I used an hydraulic system with a fork in my stocker Dakota since I built it in 95. NHRA had no issue as it was the production set up. They did look it over for and solenoid in the system.
