Thumbs up 66 BelAir Stock Elim. Car

A friend has a 66 Bel Air 2dr post in real nice shape ,and he's talking about stock elim ! He also has a couple of 427's that he would like to have built for the car ! The car will be an automatic !
Does he have to run a 12 bolt, or could he use a Dana S-60 ! I did'nt know if he could , as i'm a Mopar person ! Where would this fit as far as Class ? Thanks for the help,,,,,,,,,,,John

John....a 12 bolt is all he can use that has any strength and the 427/425 HP engine is a 4 speed only combo for 1966. The automatic wasnt used until 1969 behind a 427/425. The 396/325 can use an automatic (400 or 350 Turbo) or a 4 speed. As a S/S car he could use the Dana 60 or a Ford 9 inch..

Yes....there is a 427/390 HP factored (derated) to 371 HP. It has oval port heads, smaller cam, cast iron intake, and uses a Q-jet carb.

It falls at 10.18 with a turbo automatic. Thats E/SA. multiply 10 X 371 HP for 3710 lbs then add the 170 lbs for the driver. It can run D, E, F. The weight I gave you is for E. I have the engine specs and you can find them on the NHRA site under blueprint specs. I will be home later and if you cant find them I will give the engine specs to you around 7:30 PM EST.
