Frank,
During my miss-spent youth in Fort Lauderdale, I worked for some time as a "gofer" for a guy who ran an old Willie Rells-built Pro Stock Firebird. Of what little I remember of that experience, I think Dempsey was a consultant on the project, at least at the beginning. He was definitely a legend in that part of South Florida, but it's been a long time since I've seen or heard from him. Lew

Lew, I'm not sure it's hard to tell, there were several guys that used those old Studebaker's back then, here's another one...

Frank and Lew,
Dempsey drove my uncle's Pro stocker in the late 80's early 90's Jeff Velde. My uncle told me a couple years ago that Dempsey had a car lot in south Florida and had passed away. Probably about 7 or 8 years ago. Bret Velde |

Man ,is this thread getting off track.
It's supposed to be about older Stockers being run or built..today Don't get me wrong..I like nostalgia as much as the next guy...

Just a little info here, no one replied to this thread in over a month and it was 10 pages back when I brought it back up...I was just trying to inject some life back into this thread...perhaps someone could post some early cars for sale ads off some websites to get the juices flowin' again, then maybe someone will talk about any 'new' old stockers that their building...just sayin'.

Unless you have built/bought a DP, CJ or Copo you're building an "Older Stocker". Some are just "Older" than others.

...perhaps I should have said 'antique stockers' then.
