I understand that some S/SSers don't like the ET cars being there. IHRA has to cover costs if the car count is low. I bet if the car count was up there wouldn't be any ET cars anymore at the event.
Heard a rumor that Nitro Jam will go away after this year. New owners want more of an NHRA style event. Jeff

Looking at the other classes the car counts seemed fairly good. It appears the only ones that have a problem with IHRA are the stock/super stock guys. Just my observation.

I watched Stock & Super Stock each rd both days & was wondering why so few cars showed up for this race. PS. If ET cars is the reason that Stock & Super Stock will not show up in force at this race, that is just plan SORRY! Coach |

I know a lot of people complain about traction. And it seems stock and super stock cars have an inconsistency hooking. However, the car counts in SS are still low at all races. Stock counts seem to be lower at San Antonio than other places. As mentioned above, total car counts still seem to be good. Top dragster had 44 cars. And another thing to consider, some people may not like et cars bc it takes so much longer to finish the race. I don't have anything against them, but combine that with the nitro jam and it really makes the race drag on forever. They should run atleast the buy back rounds before Sunday. We left after 3rd round and it was 7:30! I think IHRA should adjust the schedule to make the weekend easier on everybody instead of having so much to run on Sunday.

The ET cars were first out Sat. morning and suppose to run first and buy back round Sat. night. Due to breakage the ET cars didn't see the track again until Sunday morning. I guess we can always find something to complain about. I still say if S/SS numbers were up the ET cars would be gone.

Jeff, they would have to be waaaaayyy up then, because I remember Bandimere Speedway's LODRS June race always getting good turnouts for both Stock & Super Stock, and that didn't stop them from having two bracket classes (similar to box and no-box) at their divisionals, and their class racing categories would've made San Antonio's entries look dismal!
Cooter, when I think of the traction issues at San Antonio, I recall "Jammin Jerry" Emmons not having any problem with it, and the wheelstands he displayed on launch proved it...furthermore, how about Pete Peery and his Calais, I believe his car hooked up very well too??? Jim, I couldn't agree with you more on your comments, and Gary I'm glad you saw the light to what he was saying...I just wish more racers would've seen the light and showed it by attending the Nitro Jam race last year in Salt Lake City (as well as the Summit Sportsman Spectacular, in San Antonio)! ![]()
