Everybody is entitled to an opinion but I need to put a stop to the outright lies. There IS a payout for the class. I've already explained that in another thread.

Not only is it ADRL's standard system but it pretty much stops the one thing no fan wants to see...a redlight. It also offers a substantial opportunity for races won on reactions. There were a few bulbs under "a hundred" at Houston, though, so it's not THAT big of a deal. Heck, Buckner had an 0.046 so there's no reason to change it.

I ran the unleashed thing as a test session last summer here at Tulsa. Finally got a .040 and one .026. However I have a Trans brake. I couldn't do that foot braking. Don't have to worry about going red. Not a big deal. Same for everybody.

The 3 spd probably helps

Also - there is the old - big front tire size and ET vs small front tire size and reaction time

I sent you an email - call if you get a chance

I assume since it is not "stock eliminator" we can use a very trick 2 spd

Let me know....

Ron

You made me laugh out loud, Bo! You don't remember asking the question yourself in the "Calling Out All Mustangs" thread?

In any case, here’s the deal. Car and driver are admitted FREE. PERIOD. Crewmembers have to buy an all-access armband but that’s an insurance mandate, not an ADRL decision. We debated the payout and settled on a $150 “donation” to the purse. Whatever money is taken in is paid out. ADRL takes nothing. Under normal circumstances, this should make a purse which can realistically pay $1000 to win and be able to pay the semi-finalists. We’re only accepting fourteen cars for each event, (at this point, anyway), so that would make a maximum of $2100 for the purse.

Bret , I remember asking , but the answer was not clear . So Butner received $750 ? or did everybody get back $150 since there were only 5 cars ? PLEASE JUST A STRAIGHT ANSWER TO THE QUESTION . Bret maybe we should make things interesting to bring in some cars after all it's the "Super Car Series" and all these car cost over $100k , think Big !!!!

How about $1000.00 to enter and winner take all , 10 cars enter $10,000 to winner . I bet the car count will go up . Maybe ADRL should try this approach for all classes. The guys comming to these races have money to spend every pro team has at least $500k wrap up in their operation and no place to race heads up. For a big payout racers will work hard on their cars .

What do you think ? I'm in for $1000.00 at Bristol for winner takes all who else is?

Everybody that entered that race had a grand to spend it cost them that much for gas (LOL)

$300 for a NHRA national to win $1500 ( odds 1 in 70) so a $1000 to win $10,000 is better (odds 1 in 10 )

SHOW ME THE MONEY

2006 IHRA TOP STOCK WORLD CHAMPION , prize money that year 10,000 per race and $40k to the champion at years end

Ok so I am a liar. There is kind of a purse.

But could you explain to me the difference between a entry fee and a “donation” to the purse? I know I am just a dumb hick from up north but is seems like the same thing to me. So the car and driver being “Free Period” really is not true so guess I am not the only one lying on this thread.

I actually think it is a neat class would enjoy watching it if it ever made it up my way. I was just pointing out some reasons why I thought the car count was low.

It may seem like semantics but there really is a difference. A standard drag racing purse is configured to make money for the promoter although the amount of profit is contingent on many things. Late last year, Jeff and I agreed last year to take the ADRL out of the equation. The association makes no money on the class and the racers are not only free to determine their own purse but see all of it in return. It was Jeff who decided on the $150 amount and I know his reasoning was avoid any extra burden on potential competitors. You all know Jeff and his previous Top Stock philosophy; it wouldn't have surprised me if he wanted to set the number at $62,500 per axle and set up a toll booth in the staging lanes.

I realize that but the funny thing is we didn't really consider it "low". For a class which was only announced seventy-six days before the first event and a first venue which is pretty much close to nobody, we were VERY happy. It was a great show, everybody had a great time and the response was incredible.

I honestly don't know how they split it at Houston, Bo. I never asked.

Personally, I wouldn't take that bet but you might be right. However, you're free to take it up with Jeff. He has the final say in the purse structure.

The purse was winner take all. Each car but one put up $150. So do the math and bo won $600. It was agreed upon the drivers at that race before any runs were made.

Bo kenny you are asking people to put up $1000 each race and we really dont have all the kinks worked out. It would be nice to have n/a v8's race but untill we can get everything worked out you know they are not in the hunt. Im not saying by the middle of the season people would be willing to put up that kind of money but for now it should be discussed at a drivers meeting befor each race between the drivers who show up at that race. Even us with the v10's are behind but we are willing to stay with it to make this as competitive as possible. I say lets get a couple of races under our belts before we start asking for big money from racers. I mean only 5 of us showed up at this event. If you start saying its $1000 to enter, man i personally dont think you will have many cars at all. At only $150 one of the cars didnt put up, for $1000 he wouldnt have shown up.

For the guys who like the class but keep complaining about it, try committing to a couple of races and pumping things up. The more intrest adrl gets from racers who are willing to show up, the more they will be willing to listen to. I mean, if all people are going to do is complain about this and that without committing to a single race it's nonsense. Yall cant imagine how configuring adrl was to us as racers. Man every situation they were asking us what they could do to make it better. These guys were really hands on during the whole event. As they say dont knock it till you try it. You just might be suprised at how much they want us at the race!!!!!!

Hats off to mr. Bret and the whole adrl crew. It was really a very enjoyable weekend. Not one complaint.

Also hats off to bo butner and chris holbrook. Not only do they have bad @@@ cars but they are 2 very respectible people. Everyone was accommodating.
