I had no prior warning about nhra's interest in enforcing this little rule. In fact I didn't know cutting two little wheelie bar notches was illegal. Ryck was taking pictures of the backside of our cars at the scales. It sounds like he was just following orders. But to be sure, it is a dumb rule. My car would flip over if it didn't have wheelie bars and there is no way to set them up without cutting a 2 inch notch in the rear valance. So, should I take the wheelie bars off and risk flipping the car over on the starter and other nearby crew members? That makes perfect sense??? I tried calling the two numbers given in the letter but got only voice mail and had to leave messages.

The two notches do not offer any performance advantages and can only help save life and limb. My next race isn't until the Atco Divisional, so hopefully this problem will be resolved before then. Try putting some pretty duct tape on the underside of the valance if you have this problem and plan to race this weekend. Jack you should file an appeal if it is appealable.

They allow GT cars to be slotted because of clearance issues, but no other cars can .
If the need for a slot exisits on one type of car , why not the others with similar clearance issues ?
Hopefully they will come to their senses....we have been talked to about our slots in the fascia....so I duct taped them....but it's ridiculous.....it's legal in GT but not pure SS....

If the car has a fascia it should be legal...even in stock...

With all due respect to Jack. Rules are rules and they should be enforced for all.

Going back to the letter, it states "...covers may not be notched or slotted/or [sic] clearance around wheelie bar."

But what if the cover comes in contact with the wheelie bars during a run, and the bars, having been "naturally" heated to very high temperatures by "exposure to the sun", "accidentally" melted clearance slots into the cover? ;-)

Would they bounce you for racing on a hot day?

Street cred (short for street credibility) is respect gained through tangible accomplishments, often associated with rap or hip-hop music. Say a rapper is raised in an upper class family. People might say: "How can that dude rap about life in the hood when he was raised in the Hamptons?" To gain street cred, this rapper might start hanging out with gang members, get arrested, go to prison, get tattoos etc...

Street cred has worked its way into mainstream popular culture. A lawyer might earn street cred by successfully defending high-profile clients. In Jack's reply to 1320 he basically told him he has no street cred in class racing.

The reason I wrote what I did is because after reading Mr. Ficacci's post I tried to figure out why Jack would leave out the fact that he knew this rule was going to be enforced, yet his post makes it seem like it's the first time he's ever heard about it. Did he forget? Does he have alzheimers? The only thing I could come up with is he might be trying to shed his NHRA cheerleader image, so he criticized them.

IMO, a good reporter would have never left this info out. In fact, a good reporter would have posted something about it when they first found out about it six weeks ago, but that's just my opinion.

Oh, and by the way, I don't listen to rap, I'm a classic rock guy through and through.

I guess they prefer torn up facias?

Dumb rule. Lots of illegal Stock and SS cars. That rule needs to be fixed.

Is the NHRA enforcing the same body rule equally or any rule for that matter with everyone across the board equally, is the question. I would hope so.
