scoop or no scoop, you guys will still be in the trailer, early! And when the scoops are gone, you'll find something else to b*tch about.. most good S/S engines are so heavily modified they're hardly "OEM" anymore. Heads got a half inch of epoxy and oval ports, aftermarket steel rods and cranks, forged pistons, etc etc.. put a sheet metal intake and an air pump on em and its the same engine. Sorry you have to teardown, my heart bleeds for ya..

283SS, I as I'm sure many here don't appreciate being called lazy. I'd doubt you could get 2 people who know me to say such a thing. What do you do for a living ? Pilot a desk I'd guess. I work plenty hard on my stuff as do most of the racers I know. trying to "get out of tear down" is not my priority, racing within my means with the stuff I've got to work with, that's what I'm about. Last year was my first year running NHRA after running IHRA for years. All of the racers we met this year were very freindly and really good people to be around. I really hate to think that they were secretly cursing me and my car. Maybe if I lower my engine enough I can put on a flat hood , oil pan may scrape a bit but would that make you feel better? Joe

Why not just allow all super stocks to run a hood scoop, that would be fair to everyone.

Good way to put it!!!!

I always thought it was weird to have basically the same classes in Comp and SS. I guess that is good for the racer with these cars. To me, the non-OEM scoop cars LOOK more like a Comp car than a SS. I think Comp Eliminator's problem is the Pro Stock costs in a Sportsmen class.

NHRA doesn't promote the Sportsmen classes at all with the "All about the Nitro" philosophy with their TV coverage. Let's see, it's raining so let's go talk to a nitro driver rather than show anything from the previous day. Even Pro Stock gets short changed in the coverage. They should look at other classes to entertain the spectators instead of hiring idiots to shoot T-shirts into the crowd on Sundays.

OK, to all you guys that are jumping on the band wagon and claiming to be "pureist". What is the problem with the scoop cars when the fuel injected cars are running sheetmetal intakes in GT? Really? how "stock" is a cavalier with a LS-1 with a sheet metal intake? Even the Hemi cars are using them with carburators, which by the way use to sit on opposite sides of the motor instead of nearly being in line with each other. Does the Hemi get a "pass" from you guys because it has a factory scoop on it? Seriously?
