Panza was 81 out of 82, which made him one of the three at the bottom of the order.

Tom, look at the first round of Comp. They hit the CIC harder than Tigers wife cracked him with a nine iron.

Joe just finished running a heads up in stock, and as most know heads up races are usually last. Super Comp finished up quick with only 15 pair to run between stk and ss. Joe's opponent, Robert Panza was told to go to the burnout box and then told to do his burnout and stage. Joe was being escorted through the pits by NHRA officials to get there as fast as he can, he was parked way past the finish line. Joe got up there and needed no more than 30 seconds to get ready, NHRA told Robert to stage and the rest is history.

What a terrible call by the NHRA officials, there were many cars all ready paired up and ready to go. Its amazing that the pit officials were escorting Joe and the track officials were telling Robert to race, do they use the same radios or what.

Just a little common sense would have made this a none issue. Now NHRA has two race teams upset with each other for a bad call.

I have lots of photos of stk/ss, as soon as I finish editing, I will post them.
come on Kenny you know better than that, when it comes to S/SS NHRA and common sense NEVER belong in the same sentance or paragraph
PS thank you for the live posts and pics

Joe has been in that situation many times.

This is the designated first 3 pairs deal that seems to make everyone sooooo friggin' happy. Joe is a friend of mine. He has driven my car before. I haven't spoke to him about this, but I can only guess he wasn't aware he was a designated pair.

Simple to address if he was aware, even being last in stock with 15 pairs of sc in between. Drive the stocker to scales, park it, scooter it up to the ss car that dad had waiting in the lanes. End of story. I guarantee it won't happen to him again.

I love to rail against the machine as much as the next guy, but I'm missing where NHRA did anything wrong.
Dan, The reason I thought he was wronged is because it was not stated originally that he was one of the designated 3 paires. Now that I know that, other than him possibly not knowing, they didn.t do anything wrong.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned on here yet, but during the first round of SS, three pairs were affected by a timing system blunder (human error of course) that cause the win light to come on in the loser's lane!! I myself had this happen, and actually lost a .008 double breakout race!

It seems there was a heads up run earlier in the round and whoever was responsible switching the system back to the break out style of racing didn't do their job!

BTW, nobody from NHRA came by and told me I actually lost the round! A fellow competitor, who was in the same situation, saw my number on the list of races affected and stopped by to tell me, well after the round was over! When I looked on DRC, sure enough, my opponent was declared the winner! No if's, and's or but's!!!

Bryan,

I know nothing about this but please give me a call at 732/910-2145. Id love to hear exactly what happened and who was at fault, be it NHRA or our computer operator.

If it was the fault of our computer operator, I would think a re-run would be in order and if Graham or whoever didnt do that I would like to know why.

Give me a call. I will always make time for racers.
