The name on the door says "Hugh Meeks".
Is this the same Hugh Meeks that was SS world champ a couple years ago? This pic is 30 years old (from bowling green - Truby Collection) ![]() Tom Sheehan |

The Hugh in which u are reffering to that won ss is the Hugh Meeks the 3rd. So this picture could be his dad who races stock still or his grandfather.

Wouldnt it be neat to see a full staging lane shot. If it was Bowling Green it could be the Sports Nats and that race use to be HUGE.....

Gents, the car pictured was raced by Hugh Meeks II during the mid to late 70's if I remember correctly. The car belonged to a rural route mail carrier named Bobby, can't remember his last name, here in Columbus, Georgia. Sherman Adcock Sr bought the car from him and built a SS/P car out of it and later sold to Hugh. I didn't remember Hugh running it with an automatic but the picture tells the rest of the story. Hugh sold it to Eddie Hinson of Opelika, Alabama and it was later converted to a bracket car and I lost track of it.
The yellow car in front of Hugh is one of Bob Dennis's 283 cars which he bought as a roller from Chris Scammon and I. Thanks for bringing back a few memories Jimmy Parker |

Tom , yes this was my inspiration as a kid, my dad's Hot Rod. I liked it better as a stick... He ran it in /MA as well, before selling to buy Bentleys Krunchy Chicken '69 car Bobby Warren drove. I agree Jimmy those pics are neat looking back. We have tons of pics from back in the '70s, Ill try to remember to bring some albums with us next time were out.

I think it`s so neat seeing old pics when the Class cars had mis-matched wheels like that. Also,it`s amazing,30 years later and Jim Weakland is still racing the same car!
