Guide Plates for 302 Ford

I am building a 72 Maverick stocker 302 with a 2 barrel and just now started the engine build. A fellow racer said that NHRA is going to allow guide plates on all cars even if they did not come with them. Is that true. Also are sherman lifters the best and if so what makes them that way. About 40 percent done and will work on it every night.

As for Guideplates, yes, you can now run them!
