I have made this statement before... Nhra was created to get racers off the streets & into a safer enviroment......The drag strip. Those are Wally Parks Words .....Not Mine...NHRA has moved so far from that idea . I believe it to be lost forever. Todays NHRA is not the one our fathers joined & it damn sure is not the NHRA Wally Parks started.
The average racer cant even dream of running in Nhra . Might as well go back to street racing. When I hear Non Profit I think of my Local Credit Union & my Electric Co-op. The members are the stockholders . I recieve a check from my bank & electric company every year... same as a stockholder... say of Microsoft. I dont want a check for any part of the 100 mil. but I would like to see the money used to get NHRA back to grass roots. NHRA wasnt started to give John Force a place to race..., I know that the wealthy racers here think NHRA is a thier Private Country Club and want to keep us poor riff raff from playing but if they want to maintain NON-Profit status start giving back to the little guys who started it. Speak up people!!!! Ford-Lite Half the Cylinders & No Carbs |

Hey guys If you are old enough to remember What NHRA was about .
Post it here. If you agree respond. If you think it should be an exclusive rich mans playground .. tell me that also. Your silence shows NHRA that you really dont care. If you dont like to type just post a hell yea get back to grass roots or Dont let the poor riff raff play on our playground. Phil Bush I/FI J/FI 2644 Ford-Lite Half the Cylinders & No Carbs |

If NHRA has sold their pro racing, and commited to sportsman, isn't that where they started from. getting the lil guy off the street. I hope their new pledge is preservation and growth of sportsman style heads up whatever your type will be. Why else to exist. we need a leg to stand on in many areas of the USA. NHRA could then turn into : TO PROTECT AND SERVE the preservation of local organized drag racing for the regular folks.

Maybe they were having IRS problems and spun off, I find it hard to believe they did this for the sportsman racer, NOT! They have not been very altruistic in the past. Power and money are strange bedfellows. But...I'll be optimistic if this will benefit the sprotsman racer (this includes all catagories not just stock/Superstock) Time will tell. This is my opinion and I have no facts into why NHRA was sold,

Tom Compton was on Dave Despaine's(sp?) Wind Tunnel show. When Dave asked Tom how this will effect the sportsman classes. He said it should " improve sportsman racing and insure its future for a long time."

If I am a NHRA official & I see a lack of response to post about the state of affairs . I would think ....they dont give a damn how we run things....Lets just do as we please...Your silence equals acceptance..

I gave them my acceptance as I silently failed to renew my membership and license this year. I think we should sue them about the 501c title, non profit organization my ***.

Okay, I'll respone, even though its been hashed over on other threads on this site and NHRA, if watching knows we care. Great discussion elsewhere that I I won't rehash about the difference between a 501 credit union or electric coop vs NHRA. You don't have to distribute funds to members to be a 501. Most don't.
As for Wallys dream. I think class racers think of themselves only when saying "NHRA racers". NHRA racing is run at dozens and dozens of tracks weekly in the form of bracket racing and "test and tune". There are a couple hundred street cars at friday night test and tune at Atlanta Dragway that would likely play more on the street if not for Commerce. Same amount of racers show up Saturday as well as 15-20 junior dragsters for the bracket race. More of Wallys dream. I see this move as a move back toward the intent of NHRA. May have been forced due to the IRS and 501 reg, I don't know. I don't care why it happened I only hope it betters, not enhances our racing, be it class, bracket or test and tune, all of which happen at NHRA sanctioned tracks across the country every week. NHRA is more then class racing even though some don't like the other parts. Stewart Way SSAH 2424 Stock 2094 Ex NHRA Tech and starter
