2009 Summit Racing Equipment Allstar Structure Update
In 2009, the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Mr. Gasket will be the platform for a season long “race within a race” called the Summit Racing Equipment All-Stars. This program will feature our 2009 division champions in each of the seven sportsman classes competing in a unique, playoff-like atmosphere. The 2009 program officially begins January 1 and concludes with the competitor’s last Pro-Am points claiming event. The event will be contested during the World Finals in Rockingham. “This new twist for 2009 is an additional way of rewarding our division champions for their support and an excellent way to showcase our respective division champions on a national level. This program is another value added way to generate divisional rivalries by deciding who actually is the best of the best in each of our 7 Pro-Am categories”, stated Mike Baker IHRA Senior Director of Competition. The racers will compete on a sportsman ladder with a payout of $5,000 winner, $1,000 runner-up, $700 semis and $500 quarters in addition to an IHRA gold card for use in 2010. To be eligible for the program the driver must complete the special programs registration form and display the required decals in the specified areas on both sides of the car. The form and decals are available at the IHRA Technical Services Trailer at all National and Pro Am events. These changes do not have any impact on the 2008 Summit All-Star event that will be contested during the Spring Nationals at Rockingham in April. The winners all have a secured spot in the Tournament of Champions program that will be contested at the 2009 IHRA World Finals. |
