Thumbs up Re: Challenger H/P rating

Is the 6.1 the 392 Hemi? I passed a new orange Challenger on the beltway this afternoon, and the tags said "RELIVN". LOL!!!

That seems like reasonable numbers. The 5.7L Hemi in a 2004 or 2007 Magnum or Charger is NHRA rated at 345HP, and the 6.1L Hemi in the same vehicles are listed as "ESI" - Engine Specs Incomplete.
The 5.9L Magnum Dakota / Ram engine was last used in the 1998 model year I believe and the 275 HP rating is approximately the same as those older Dakota or Ram trucks.
At 385 HP I believe the CJ500 Mustangs will have to "get out of second gear" (old Rambler song) to keep up with the Challenger 6.1L.

Mr. Warehime,
A 392 CID is approximately a 6.4L and is not what is supplied with the Challenger Drag-Pack.

Don't know about the Hemi's but the 360 is about 75 horse power below what it should.

In reponse to the horsepower factor numbers released for the 360 Magnum motor in the new Challengers, Jeremy said, "Don't know about the Hemi's but the 360 is about 75 horse power below what it should." sic.

Wondering about what kind of engine specs could have elicited such a remark, I decided to go into the NHRA "Engine Blueprint specs" page and see just how this engine stacks up against the SBC motors and Ford Clevelands.

It's not there.

No specs are available from the NHRA website for this motor. At least, I can't seem to find them.

I have not seen any specs ANYWHERE for any of these new factory "Challenger" motors. To assume that it's just going to be an (IHRA) "crate motor" is assuming too much, I would think. Where are the specs for this engine, and how can we access them? Anyone know?

And, if they are not available yet, how can ANYONE think that the factor is wrong, if they don't have access to the mechanical specs that determine that factor?

I'm confused....

Bill

Then I think they need to hit that thing already if the cobra JET is not going to be able to keep up with it!! I mean come on the cobra JET is so horribly factored how can ANYTHING outrun it. I think the whole problem with the CJ is the badges it wears!!! R.J.
