In the June 09 Race Pages magazine (NMRA, National Mustang Racing Association) they got their hands on a 6 spd new CJ. With no mods other than a tune, it made 617 on PUMP GAS at the tires. On 100 octane (not even close to C-16 or C-25), with a conservative tune and the belt slipping it made 637 at the wheels. Using a very conservative 15% driveline loss it makes 749 Flywheel HP. This is way beyond what any 427, hemi, old shelby, 396 or LS1 will make in stocker trim. Mind you that these cars havent even been taken or apart or the pulleys been swapped (the blower is bigger than the GT500 by the way!).
I know this subject has been beat to death but here it is in black and white. I will try and scan the article tonight but i am trying to get ready to go to houston in the AM.

its stock because it was designed to be a race car. Give a C6 z06 a 425 hp rating and lets put one of those in AA/SA. factory race car vs factory race car, although the chevy is meant to be a roadracer/street car

That's a good idea, why not give the latest GM offerings an advantageous factor too? - Then the big (little?) 3 can ALL have a chance to compete against each other on equal footing.

You will not see what the CJ's can really do until Indy. After that they will get horsepower and the crying can cease.
You think the HP numbers for the Challenger are realistic? They should be real fast for a while too. |

Getting HP will probably depend on how big a radiator it had, what Div. it runs in, and who's in charge of the scales!!
