If you are shifting manually and run a 10 second or faster car and leaving off of a transbrake, then it is not the shifter you want. In a reverse pattern 3 speed I don't like how loose (non-positive) between neutral and 1st it is. I have to bump the transbrake just to make sure it is in first and not somewhere in between and my detent is firm. Also when footbraking anothers car I was (reverse T-400 also) resting my hand on the shifter preparing to shift, but before launching and when I launched the 11 second car the inertia barely pulled my hand shifting it into 2nd right off of the line. I like a firm ratcheting shifter that I have to crank back and not a loose feeling shifter. This is just from my experience as I'm sure it works for many others. I hate shifting a 3 speed, so I guess that's how one feels when you raced with a powerglide most of your life

I had one in my 97 Firebird stocker with a reverse pattern 200 trans that I manually shifted. I did not like the shifter and the reverse pattern trans did not match the gate so I had to use 3 motions to shift twice. A forward pattern valve body would have made it a much better feel and then the shifter and trans would have been fine. I was going to install the e-shift but never got that far.....For a 3 speed I would say it is a very good shifter......I would not use it with a powerglide.....

An excellent shifter especially for a 3-speed. One of the only ones that use one air cylinder to shift both gears.
We make some small modifications to ensure accurate and consistent shifts without over-shifts. We also modify it for second neutral, air shifted trans's. We have used it a lot in our own cars as well as customers and it never fails. Shifts are very accurate as far as RPM's. FJ |

Best 3 speed auto I have used with air. Extremely accurate if the correct arm is used on the trans. BUT....if the "buy one every 4 years or no contingency" still stands I won't own another one. Always one of the first to pay and great product and service.

We have one in each and every car -- Paul Forte has been my friend and trans company for longer than I can remember and I wouldn't race without his products in my car -- their shifters are the best in the business -- period .

I agree with mannymen I was disapointed with this thing at first Because there is no positive mechanical ratchet for the gear positions.I make damn sure its in 1st before I stage. Then I can just slap it back going down track (727 rev) Its a little like the best factory shifter ever made-- the Mopar Slap Stik So I guess thats why I bought it.
