I heard that they had to run on the 1/8 mile this past wekend due to water coming up on the track again.
Can anybody confirm this,or better yet,how can this be resolved by next week if it is still an issue? |

If we can get a few days with no rain I don't think we'll have an issue. However it has basically rained for a week here, Thursday no rain but raining bucket loads Friday. I really cannot believe Norwalk has this issue over the years I know they've spent plenty of time and money to "fix" this problem not sure why it's still an issue. Joe

Bader said the two layers of asphalt have delaminated from each other. There is a several hundred foot section of track near the finish line that has to be completely removed and replaced. He said it was not a drainage issue. Once the water gets between the two layers it will start to seep up when the sun comes out. At the LODRS he said there was no way it would get fixed before the national event so he would probably wait until the fall.

Well isn't that just precious? I guess if he's willing to sacrifice his weekly racers he'd have no issues sending a pro to the guard wall gods. With all the money spent on this place the last few years you would think a little thing like the racing surface wouldn't have gotten overlooked. Oh well they sure have some nice lounges to watch from and some nice pit areas. Joe

According to their website, they cancelled the races this weekend for track repairs. If it keeps raining,I don't see how they can do any repairs involving concrete.Maybe it is just some sort of drainage issue that can be resolved easily by next week.

I drove by the track this afternoon and there is a lot of activity going on. There is enough construction equipment to rebuild the county. No doubt in my mind that the Baders will have it ready to go. Several days of sunny weather coming this week, and that will certainly help. Good luck racers.
