Default Carbs?

Dan Dvorak (sp) posted on the "other" site, that he had heard any carb mods other then throttle body bore and venturi size is now legal. Has anyone else heard that rumor? That could be the answer to the west coast/east coast holley debate.

Travis told me at Bowling Green that the 4 corner idle circuit is not legal in stock and super stock. He said that it adds another circuit and thus is prohibited in the rule book.

I would think that the assumption that ANY modifications are permitted "other than throttle body bore and venturi size" is somewhat misleading. That would imply that the choke plate can be removed, the choke horn milled off, the diameter of the throttle shaft reduced, the throttle plates modified beyond drilling idle holes, the throttle plate attachment screws tampered with just for openers. Those are just a few things that come to mind that I would doubt could pass a thorough tear-down. I have not seen anyone try to present any of these modifications to a tech inspection but they seem to me to be outside the latitude provided by the wording of the rule on page 103 of the Rulebook.
