Well, if you want to run division and national events, I think your best choice is Super Street. Depending upon the condition of the truck, it could be run in Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street at these events. But, you said "without breaking the bank", and that's pretty much going to rule out Super Stock and Super Comp. Your truck MAY already be quick enough to run Super Gas, but if you can't run 8.90's you'll quickly find out that you're at a severe disadvantage. And making a brick run 8.90's isn't the cheapest thing in the world to do.
So, if your truck is at least 2,800 lbs with you in it (you can add ballast to make weight, and with a pickup truck you should have plenty of room to put ballast in the bed), I think Super Street is the way to go. It's based on a 10.90 quarter mile index, and it's a 5-tenths pro tree rather than a 4-tenths pro tree so won't have to initially worry about getting the truck to react quickly. The downsides to Super Street are that: 1. There's only 1 national event per division. 2. There's no national points structure. 3. Super Street usually runs first every day, which can make it difficult if you're either not an early morning person, or if you get to the track late and aren't able to tech-in the day before (though this isn't much of a problem at division races...mostly the national events). Hope this helped... Jason Oldfield S/G & S/ST 1838 |

I run mine S/ST, but the way I have been driving lately, I am considering tractor pulls!
