I went to NHRA D2 site and can not find anything on the National Open the first weekend of December, I'm wanting to know so i know when the last race of the year for my stats to do and get out hopefully by x-mas.
BTW Howell Printing does me a great job on my stats but darn it the mailing service down there is killing me, If anybody knows of a better connection for Bill to take the books to get sent out let us know (Aikens, SC). The mailing place has had the books for over 3 weeks, wow. Sorry for the hold up people but it is out of Bill & myself hands. |

D2 site usually "behind the times"....race was moved up one week, either to facilitate all the big money bracket racers to make another stop south before heading to the colder climates, prevent conflict with Bradenton's "Snowbird" race or to compete with PBIR's Citrus Nats...anyway, here is SGMP's link to the race. It was indeed originally scheduled for the first weekend of December.

Why is the entry fee $125 for the NHRA class cars and Super Pro is $75. Typical, penilize the Class racers, the pay out is better in Super Pro with less entry fee. I guess you have to pay to use the scales and get the fuel taken from you to be checked.

I'm betting the date change is real hard on the car count. I know we won't be there at all. The original date would have allowed us to go down for the race, stay over two days, and then go to the PRI Show. As it is, we have two places to go for Thanksgiving, about 120 miles apart. So we go one place at noon, and one in the evening, and come home Friday. As our parents are getting up in years, we try not to skip any holidays. Whoever changed the date just wasn't thinking.

Division 2 is piss poor as far as communications is concerned, has been for a long time. We need someone who can communicate with the racers. There will probably be nothing on the site until about two weeks after the race. Bill Holt told me the race date was moved due to a comflict with a race at Bradenton, I wasn't born last night! Jim
The NHRA National Open at South Georgia Motorsports Park was moved to November 27,28 & 29th 2009. http://www.racesgmp.com/schedule-dra...etail.da?id=65 I posted this last month.

As far as being moved to Thanksgiving weekend ... If everyone will remember, the Sportsman Open in Orlando for years was held on that weekend. And for some of you older guys The Snowbird Nationals was held in Bradenton. And for some of you REAL old guys like me The Turkey Trots in Gainesville.
I think it is a great weekend for a race..... at a first class track. |

The date was set to bump heads with PBIR's race. PBIR is running S/SS/SG/SC at the Citrus and I'm sure that this a ploy to get the racers not to attend since PBIR is going to be an IHRA track next year. Ron Dixon (PBIR owner) told Bill Holtz that by not working with PBIR he is only hurting the NHRA racer. GMP did the same to Immoc's Winter warn up race by setting the dates to their 5 Day the same week as the Warnup. When are the track managers going to learn that the car counts would go up if the tracks worked together rather then have conflicks.

Larry had planned on going if the race had been in December. We went to the Orlando race on Thanksgiving weekend the year that Chris was 16, in order for him to get a grade point. We swore that we would never go back south and fight that traffic on the Sunday of Thanksgiving. It was a nightmare. Bumper to bumper from Orlando to at least Atlanta. So we will stay home and have our family Thanksgiving.
