Brake Fluid

What do you use for brake fluid in your stock/ super stock car, silicone, synthetic or standard DOT 3 or 4? Are there good or bad sides to any of these?

dot 5 is silicon based and is not compatible with dot 3 or 4. I tried dot 5 and experienced a master cylinder failure a year later. Even with all new components most of the assembly of seals are with dot 3. There will be a compatability issue in the future.

i use the ford dot 3 we used to sell it to the jaguar road race team when they came into town. very good stuff. part number pm1c.

Wilwood's Super 500 works very well ,it has amuch higher boiling point than street type fluids and stays dry better than conventional DOT3 fluids. ....DOT 3 has only a 284 deg boiling point . .....DOT 4 ,311deg. ......For a slower class car ,the DOT 3 is sufficent,but any race car should have it's fluid flushed annually to prevent moisture contamination. ......Tom

I use Valvoline SynPower brake fluid.It has a very high boiling point,more than DOT 3 or 4.

I heard that was discontinued.Did you buy it recently?
