What do you use for brake fluid in your stock/ super stock car, silicone, synthetic or standard DOT 3 or 4? Are there good or bad sides to any of these?
Thanks, Tom |

dot 5 is silicon based and is not compatible with dot 3 or 4. I tried dot 5 and experienced a master cylinder failure a year later. Even with all new components most of the assembly of seals are with dot 3. There will be a compatability issue in the future.

Wilwood's Super 500 works very well ,it has amuch higher boiling point than street type fluids and stays dry better than conventional DOT3 fluids. ....DOT 3 has only a 284 deg boiling point . .....DOT 4 ,311deg. ......For a slower class car ,the DOT 3 is sufficent, but any race car should have it's fluid flushed annually to prevent moisture contamination. ......Tom
