Been looking at a 48 ft. featherlite with living quarters, has awnings generator ect. it's a 1996. Any idea what a good price is? Also any known issues to look for? Thanks Joe

You might try calling RV Lending group. Just tell them that you are thinking about buying it and may need financed and you would like to know what they consider the value to be before you waste a bunch of time trying to get a loan on something and working a deal out that cannot be done due to price. I am looking for another toter myself and have done this 2 times in the last couple of months, they have been very helpfull. I will admit that they know that when I find the right one they will be the ones to finance it as they have offered me a pretty good rate. Otherwise maybe someone who sells trailers and is on here might be able to help but when I have bought / traded in trailers in the past I never did find a NADA type book for them it always seems to go on how old it is vs condition it is in vs what it originally would have cost.

Holy cow...I mean people always say I have too much money (which isnt true its just that I skimp it everywhere else and spend it ALL on cars) .... wow... maybe its because I dont spend it on my trailer....
That would make my trailer 21,000 at 24 ft......Instead it was 4000 Now Im a cheap sob, and I know while a trailer wont win me any races it can KEEP me from the race, and we keeps ours tip top mechanically.... 34k for a trailer ?!?!? Ouch.......(and yes I know good stuff costs) but there are a couple cars out there Id like for 34k ![]() Maybe I should start building trailers, at $600 a ft theyd be a bargain ![]() I think Im going to start having trailer envy. |

Theres alot of ways you can look at this but we would use depreciation as if we were taking it on trade. Lets guess that the trailer sold in 96 for 60K ( i assume its an aluminum featherlite and not a steel frame, they did build a few). If you use a 15% hit the first year and then slowly roll off value as the years go by then in my opinion its worth no more than $15,000.00 retail and $9000.00 wholesale. I dont care who built it, its 15 years old and things wear out as we all know. We do alot of trailer repair and most used trailers we see of this age need a complete overhaul of the running gear (brakes, springs, shackes, etc.) at minimun not to mention the wear on the LQ parts.
Also the market sucks for the large trailer market, trust me, i know first hand. With that said it is a buyers market and you should be able to name your price on older trailers of this size because the buyers just arent there. Hope this helps! |
