1. In superstock do you have to have the Flapper Valve installed in a Camaros cowl induction hood?
2. If so, are you guys keeping it permanently open or just leaving flap? 3. If being kept open how are you permanently holding it open and does anyone have any picks of what theirs looks like being held open? 4. For superstock do I have to have pillar posts and kick panels installed? Please send any pics anyone has regarding the flapper valve to mannymen8@aol.com Thanks

Mannymen, on our 69 camaro cowl with the cowl flapper we would have it open and close. We have it hooked up to the water pump switch. So everytime I turn the water pump on it opens the flap. Hope this helps

I only have the frame and flapper installed. I don't have the solenoids or anything else installed. Is there another way with wire, super glue or something else?

Can anyone else answer questions 1 and 4? Just don't want any surprises as the INDY D3 race will be my first NHRA SS race. Thanks Manny

Even without a roll cage, installing kick panels in a '69 Camaro is no fun. The rule book says full street equipment. If you don't have them, the tech guys may tell you, "You need these things before your next event."

I can't see being kicked out of a race for the interior issues. If it is noted by tech, just ask if you can have it corrected by the next race and I'd bet they would say yes.
But on the other hand, it would look nicer if these parts were installed. Personally I would take the time to get them installed. On the flapper, you can probably find just as many that have it wired open as those that make it functional as designed with both sides of the fence saying it has or has not ever been an issue. But you would definetly have a tech issue if there were no flapper at all. That is something that sticks out like a sore thumb and wont be tolerated. I like Bobby Stevens idea.

From pics it looks like I can just install the flapper valve solenoid.
While connecting the solenoid to the flapper valve -> pull the solenoid housing back far enough in the flapper frame to fully open the flapper and then just tighten the solenoid housing to the flapper frame so it doesn't move. If so, then I just need the solenoid Does this sound right and is anyone else doing this? Seems simple enough to do

Any help/pics from other Camaro owners? In need of more help.
If I just have the solenoid connected to the flapper valve will there be too much vacuum that it will actually close the flapper valve down track, which will cause a bog? Kind of like having your holley carb choke plate close on you down track if it isn't fixed open. The reason I'm asking for help is that my car is kept more than 800 miles away and it's not like I can go into the garage and check things out for fitment. Bueller! Bueller! Bueller!
