Last night on espn finals show from Cali they showed short video of a Comp car flipping as it went thru traps. Car landed on its wheels. Paige or other announcer said car was disqualified for "excessive braking"....Anyone else catch this and know the details? Thanks. WJ

WJ the car is a old warren johnson pro stock car he is from the n.w. and does alot of the work on the car himself great guy, i am glad he is ok, maybe nhra can look at that dumb c.i.c. thing in comp and stop this nonsense of trying not to get hit at the race?

Larry,,,,,, I'm not sure if the C.I.C. had anything to do with this one. I agree the topend camera used for the footage isn't the best angle to see where he hit the brakes,,but it appeared to be past the stripe when everything happened. I understand what you're saying about a racer not wanting to get "hit" with a penalty. I'm hoping someone had a better view of the incident and can let us know what they saw.
I'm certainly glad it wasn't worse than it was in light of recent events. Danny Durham |

I honestly feel that Brandon Huhtala had God in his Cutlass passenger seat on that pass...this one could've been a huge disaster....what a scary ride.. Maybe someone has the video and/or can get it posted up so everyone here can see for themselves how lucky Brandon really is.....maybe 180 mph+ when all hell broke loose....just cannot believe this car ended up on all fours.... I didn't realize that excessive braking on the winners part especially past the finish line reinstates the loser of the race. Is that right? The next round should have been a bye run for the 3rd round opponent.

Read your rulebook. Been in there for forever. Happens a few times a year. Usually in Super Comp and Super Gas, but I have seen it in SS and Stk.

First off you know these comp guys push the clutch in or neutral the cars at the stripe, then get the chutes out. There is no way the throttle stuck or the car would have kept going straight and the shutoff would have killed the motor. He hit the brakes to avoid a CIC and the back end got loose. He couldnt scale after the wreck as the car lost parts so he should be out. WHen the car got up it looked like it was going to roll I dont know how it didnt.
