Default Tech Officials Attitudes

I was asked to post this, by our driver. It was his first trip out West and into Division 7. He drives in Division 4.

He was extremely impressed with how nice and professional the NHRA personnel have been in Vegas and Pomona. He had said that they combed over the car more thoroughly than any other race he has attended and even asked him to move the weight box over the winter to a different location, but it was ok for this race at Pomona.

Bruce was one of the officials that he spoke with and said that he was extremely nice and welcoming. The bad rap that the NHRA gets a lot of the time is nicely offset somewhat by moments like these.

Refreshing....sounds as if your D4 friend can relate to the treatment some of us get here in the South Central Division...I can only speak of my own experiences, but our tech crew here does an admirable job, especially one individual, who seems to go out of his way to be nice to all racers, heck he even makes his wife do fuel check!!! She is even nicer to deal with than he is....I know she's easier on the eyes. This guy is strict but fair, however not all our tech people are as forthcoming...there is one in particular that seems to have lets say...issues!!!! I will leave it at that,
These people in all Divisions try to do a good job, given their current working conditions....however we don't all seem to see eye to eye from time to time, yet constructive comments, and kindness seem to go a long way, rather than the alternative!!!
Their jobs aren't always easy, its nice to hear a feel good story especially on this Remembrance/Veterans Day!!

Thumbs up Re: Tech Officials Attitudes

I would say he is correct. 99% of the tech guys are there because they love what they do, and it shows! Rules are rules and it is their job to enforce them, especially the safety rules. I think we are seeing less and less of the tech guy who is just there to stroke his ego. We here in Div.2 are lucky to have Jim Collins as he is extremely knowledgeable and fair. Jim

Las Vegas was my first division race and I had a great time. Tech was smooth and easy. The racing wasn't though, I was in a box class with no box. Those boys in super street are serious. I was a quack quack first rd. Still had a lot of fun and I'll do it again.

Greg,

You are absolutely right according to what he relates to me. He is a big fan of Wesley (who isn't) and he even gets along with and likes "Mr. Sunshine."

He was pleasantly surprised at the warm reception that he received in Div 7. Although, he nearly got tossed right out of the gate this morning. He fired up the car to get it out of the trailer at about 7:30 since they were scheduled for 1 TT at 8:15.

Cal Method came running over and told him that they are militant about not firing up a car before 8:00 am. My buddy swore he looked all over the pink sheet of track rules and they didn't say anything about that. I gave him some crap about getting tossed from there like he got tossed from here. He didn't see the humor in it like I did.

Big hats off to Cal for saving my buddy from himself.
