Default Ihra

IHRA is bailing out of the continental U.S.I see their plan now. After possibly losing two premier tracks in the States they're making a pitch to barnstorm our neighbors to the North. They've signed Prince George MSP and Thunder Mountain. They supposedly got
another track (Xbbirdjnvjhkrmk or something like that) signed also.
Can someone familiar with these tracks and their location explain to me if there is anything good that can benefit IHRA monetarily by this move? Are there enough racers geographically to make these tracks successful?

the sky is falling, we are all doomed, it is over GROW UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!! I never saw so many naysayers , It seems people thrive on negative vibrations, We should all be coming together for the good of drag racing , not trying to doom it. Drag racing sure has changed from its true form( and the racers) All of the complainers should do something instead of crying the sky is falling

It's so easy to bitch and talk on the internet these days with no accountability what so ever. To the racers who Bitch about IHRA you really dont want them to go under, if so you will be NHRA's BITCH.

BTW I heard a rumor that a track in KY is doing a 200 to enter 10K to win Stock SS race next year, without NH or IHRA.

Actually the IHRA does quite well up here in Canada. The track you can't spell is on an Indian reservation, it is more comonly known as the Eagle Motorplex. The IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton Alberta is one of the best attended races with around 400 cars and has the highest spectator count of all IHRA races. I have raced at the IHRA race in Edmonton and for the past 3 years I was one of the announcers for the National event. I can tell you first hand that the IHRA staff is a blast to work with and they do have there s**t all the way together.

Just offering my thoughts

Someone with more knowledge of the circumstances can fill in the blanks but here is what I know;

N’alikum (not sure if I spelled that right) in Ashcroft BC lost their NHRA deal because they decided to host a few non NHRA sanctioned feature leaker events. That pissed off the NHRA who then pulled the plug on them. I think it’s a fairly well attended track went to a few National Opens up there when they had them. It’s about a 6 hour drive from Seattle 3 hours from Vancouver. Very scenic and in an area of very low population density. Prince George on the other hand is WAY north about the bottom of the Alaska pan handle. Sparsely populated area maybe 100,000 within 100 miles of the place. It’s a good 12 hour drive north from the border and not a fun tow with anything other than an open trailer. They have also had National Opens in the past that were very poorly attended.

I think with these two tracks it’s not a shot in the arm for the IHRA, they just adopted a couple of orphaned tracks.

Thanks Bill for a civil answer to a simple question
To the other overzealous responders (Woods and Herb)all I can say is go have another drink or hit on the bong.I asked a question and and you get your panties all twisted in knots.
I ran IHRA Div. 1 in 2006 and had a great experience. As far as bashing I bet I ran more IHRA races that year than you guys ran NHRA races.Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Danny Sr is excluded from the panty crew.He showed me nothing but respect that year. Thanks Danny.

This is an incredibly ignorant post. If it's supposed to be good natured humor (which it should be, knowing Ed), it misses the mark. It's unfathomable to me that we have people constantly cussing about NHRA, but will stand on the sidelines cheering and jeering any possible negativity toward IHRA. It's assinine.

1) Rockingham and Virginia are still IHRA tracks. Until announced otherwise, it's nothing but internet rumor.
2) Sanctioning tracks is a two way street, and it's up to the sanctioning body to provide value to its tracks, not the other way around.
3) What do the location of the tracks have to do with anything?
4) There's no "supposedly" about the Eagle Motorplex joining IHRA (see http://www.eaglemotorplex.com/), a former NHRA Divisional track that saw some great action, featured on Larry Pfister's Horsepower Heaven videos (the guy that brought you "4 Days in May", and if you haven't heard of that, you should be ashamed to call yourself a Class racer!)

What's the next post going to be, "OMG! NHRA has tracks in Medicine Hat and Saskatoon, SaskatchasomethingIcan'tspell, they must be going UNDER!"
