Not sure of the owners name but I saw it at a race in Division 3. I inquired how it got into M/SA and was told it is a 290 engine, not the 390 engine. The hood scoop is fake and the car is just painted up to look like a Scrambler Rambler.

This is Joe Cochran's M/SA 1968 Rambler. He took the car to two races last year (that I know of), the Columbus Division 3 race and the Columbus SPORTSnationals. His best pass was a 12.791 for the 290 C.I. motor that is factored 225/210. A photo I took of the car at the Division 3 race is attached. I hope this helps!

thanks for the replies! how does he get away with running that hood? i knew it wasn't a real sc/rambler being a post car.. i was thinking maybe they overlooked it being a post and let him run the 390 and the hood, but you said its a 290 car.. jeff told me i should've this with my american a few years back running a 290/auto combo but haven't had the time or money to do anything much with any of my cars

I asked them the same thing about the hood. I was told since his scoop is not functional (no hole in the hood) it was no big deal to allow him to have it on the car.

That's a 1 of 1 AMC SCAMbler.:>):>):>)
Seriously I just looked in a 2008 rule book. Quote: Hood openings and/or hood scoops other than OEM prohibited. That's kind of a gray area as the scoop was only available on the SC/Rambler.I would think it would slow the car down a tad being non functional.
