In an effort to 'work on my combo' I figure it would be in my best interest to have a set of race scales at my 'race shop' (aka home garage). I have a number of questions about these race scales,
1 - what would be desireable features, 4 corner ,total wieght, compact , etc.? 2 - what brand and model would offer the best bang for the buck? ( I dont want to spend a fortune on these things) 3 - what would be an optimal weight bias front - rear? 52/48%, 50/50%, etc? Thanks in advance for any opinions and suggestions

We like four corner scales. We can never seen be able to get too much weight on back of our gutless stockers......usually trade use of scales for a case of beer to our Circle Track Buddies.

Check on Racing Junk in the circle track equipment section.
There are usually a few sets of affordable scales there. I have a set of Tanner scales I purchaced used from a fellow racer .....They split front and rear ond display percentages which does save some pencil and calculator time. Usually the only thing you might find wrong with them are things like frayed or patched up cables. Most of the good scale sets are pretty durable and made to take the abuse a circle racer might give them , IE multiple uses per week, dirt . I know some guys who have had good luck with the Proform scales that Jegs sells . They are way cheap, under $800 I think. The RJ WeighRite scales are good also. Mechanical beam scale platforms that use a heavy duty bathroom scale. I had a set I had a set that I used for years with no problems , just a little more time to set up. ....Under $500 I think from Rick Jones Race Cars. .... [ I just looked on the RJ website, looks like they dont offer the mechanical scales anymore.}

I was eyeing up the proform as well as an intercomp set they seem to be resonably priced, it seems most people selling used scales are wanting near new prices for them

For something along the same lines as the RJ weighrite stuff look at EBAY #320637994128. I got tired of borrowing a set so I got some of these. My buddy who I borrowed scales from stopped by one day and gave me hell about them. After about a hour of hearing his BS I told him to go get his stuff so we could see how bad they were. We weighed back to back with his intercomps and my "Junk" and to both our suprise they were within a couple of pounds of his. There are several free sites on the net where you can put in your readings and it will do the math for you.

Have a set of the RJ Weigh Rite Scales.
Used very, very little. Can't use them on my stocker. PM an offer if interested.
