i am looking at possibly getting a class c motorhome, four winds model 29 footer, seems to be in excellent condition has ford 6.8 motor ,what are some of your ideas on this considering i will be pulling a 26 foot box with my stocker ,quad,toolboxes , jacks etc etc etc i presently have a chevy dually 8.1 motor,will the ford be able to handle my trailer adequately??i need experienced feedback. thanks in advance

I think your dually has more power and the motorhome has more weight. Might be a slow ride going up hill!.
Watch the hitch (and frame area) on the class C motorhomes. Mine had a "Valley" hitch with defective welds and it broke while pulling my 20' enclosed trailer. Most are only rated at 5000lb, you'll probably need to upgrade the hitch and reinforce the frame. |

DRC in PA has a good rep for Motorhome hitch fabrications, I may have them do my class C Dodge. Although the price quote of 2,100 scared me for a moment, at least I'll know it was done right.

double what Jack said. the class C has a long overhang ( not good for towing) . get the class A

I have that exact motorhome i tow with, 28ft box,did the frame,hitch bracing myself. never had any problems, the engine pulls strong,but will slow abit on long steep hills,always kit out of O/D manually,seems to help. the class c is a good unit, but, these guys are right, u will want a class A, at some point.

X2 on what others are saying. There are some great deals right now. You can buy a real nice diesel pusher for what a dually costs. We had a gas unit and upgraded to a diesel last fall and what a difference.

More important is the fact that a class c would be so overloaded that it may cause you or someone else a problem. You can brace the hitch reinforce the frame but it will still be far beyond what the legal weight on the GCVW (Gross Combined Veh.Weight). I think you would be much happier with a Class A but the only legal way to go is a pusher or Super C-Just my opinion and you know what they say about those, Bob |
