Bryan, SFI 3.3.1 single layer.
I've tried a bunch of different ones over the years for the SG car,and keep coming back to the Simpson gloves. the stitching inside is neat and does not dig into your hand like some of the cheaper brands.

From the 2011 rulebook:
"PROTECTIVE CLOTHING All drivers are required to wear full-length pants; short- or longsleeved shirt; closed shoes; and socks. No shorts. No tank tops. No open-toe or open-heel shoes or sandals. Synthetic clothing not recommended. SFI Spec 3.3/1 gloves mandatory in any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker. See General Regulations 10:10." I just got my pair...comparable to a pair of mechanix gloves
