Default L@@K at this roll cage

You have to watch this video. Talk about bad work, it looks like Stevie Wounder was welding while Ray Charles was adjusting the wire speed. Make sure you watch all the video, you will love the ending.

Unfortunatly this is all to common.
Too many " builders" who dont know how to construct a cage within the confines of a body and complete the welds.
The scary part is the last part showing the SFI tag. ...as long as the bars are the right diameter an thickness, some inspectors will pass just about everything, since they are not welders themselves. ...I had a car in my shop a while back that I knocked the roll cage apart with a 5# hammer, it had a sticker on it!
Fortunately , the guys here in D1 who do certifications are concentious and knowlegable enough to look at the welds for quality and completion.

Seeing all the Mustangs in the shop, it was probably installed in a sub 7 second outlaw car...Geez. They need to fire the tech guy that put that cert sticker on that bar.

Cool Re: L@@K at this roll cage

Holy SH-----!!
Made me go out and take a real hard look at my welds. I'm good thank God. What concerns me is I just had a recert last winter and when I saw what the Tech did to certify a cage all I could think of was they are more interested in my money than the are about my safety.
I agree, that tech should be DECERTIFIED.

From first glance it looks like a MIG weld on Chrome Molly and a poor group of welds and fitting of tubes at that.
My 2 Cents

I find it hard to belive any inspector would sticker that mess.

It appears to be done with a tig welder to me.......but whoever did the work is a total hack.

I hope that SFI cert sticker was traced back to the tech inspector, and the appropriate action taken with respect to the individual who passed that piece of crap rollcage... at least someone had the good sense to cut it out and let a more competent shop install a new one.
