Can you guys recommend a good place to stay at Indy? Looking for clean, close to restaurants, and away from the meth lab side of town.
Thanks, Joe

Joe, any of the motels at the Brownsburg exit off I 74 are nice and safe. Check out the Hendricks county visitors bureau. Stay away from the Speedway/Crawfordsville Rd exit off 465. Tom.

look up around Michigan Ave & 465 on the North side of town lotsa nice reasonable places(motels) and several restaurants in the area---when you come to the track go the back way get off at 38th street go past eagle airport to crawfordsville road bunches of restaurants and motels there too --rooms a little more pricey too in that area but not a hell hole-- either place about 10-15 min ride to the track

I stay at the Crowne Plaza downtown, pretty neat place with a very friendly staff, has a bar and restaurant and indoor pool. It was/is the first Union Station in America, has lots of history, even has old train cars that are used as rooms too. Quite a few nice restaurants within walking distance, my fav is Izzy and Harry's (or it might be Harry and Izzy's, can't recall ). If you have AAA or another discount the rooms can be had for around 89.00 per night.

There are a number of hotels in Avon, and it is only a short drive to the track. There is a bunch of good places to eat in the area also.

most of the places on the far north/west/south sides of Indy are "usually" pretty nice east side I have found is pretty crummy and a long drive (40-50 min) to get to the track too-- however it is not carved in stone that every place in those neighborhoods are going to be up tp your expectations---not sure when you are going but like other towns they jack the rates up during the races--also remember they have a lot of golf events in the area too as well as events most every weekend at what used to be the Hoosier Dome(dont know what its called now) area---so plan ahead---Brownsburg/Avon is nice too--Do not be afraid to ASK if they are giving any RACER discounts--Check with Alex Denysenko he usually has some kind of deal for Labor Day too--Comp

I go to Indy every year; I always stay at the Red Roof Inn South on Victory Drive, or the Red Roof Inn North on Valparaiso Court. Both are very reasonably priced (under $60), clean and comfortable with great staffs, also there are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. It is about a 30 minute drive to the track from Victory Drive, 80% of which is on I-465. It is about a 20 minute drive from Valparaiso Court, 70% of which is on I-465.

I agree with FED287. 465 and Michigan Ave-we stay there every year at the Comfort Inn and Suites. Nice, safe quiet area, with lots of restaurants at your doorstep.

I usually stay at the Hampton Inn in Brownsburg. There is a Holiday Inn Express next door...as well as a Steak N Shake. Other restaurants are within a few minutes drive.
