Maybe someone on the board can give me some insight
on how I need to hook this deal up, where I can use the thansbrake, 2 step and line lock on 1 button, and just use the linelock on another button for the water bo. I have been using just the transbrake, and 2 step, but the car has a little unwanted movement when you set the brake and I am wanting to hook the linelock in with it to keep the creep out, but I need to do this with 2 different buttons. So I thought I would ask some of you guy's how this should be done. Thanks Dave |

You put a wire between your trans brake button and your line lock with a diode which is a eletrical one way check valve so when you press the transbrake it will apply the line lockat the same time. When you push your line lock button for a burn out the diode will block the path to your transbrake. Every car is wired differantly weather you are using power 12V or ground to switch them, they both need to be switch the same. Goto your local electrical shop for a diode. Most new trhottle stop boxes have this built into them if your are a superclass racer.

According to the rulebook what you are trying to do is illegal.. you may never get checked and I'm sure there are people out there doing exactly what you want to do, but technically it's not right. You have to push 2 buttons on the starting line to engage all 3 systems (transbrake, line-loc, 2-step)
In general regulations section 20 page 32(page like 299 overall) it states this: "In categories that prohibit delay devices: Changeable vehicle
components, legal unto themselves (solenoids, throttle-linkage components, hoses, springs, etc.), even though the removal and replacement of that component may affect the reaction time of the vehicle in relation to the driver action, is not considered a delay device. Wiring may consist of a single (i.e., “one” or “1”) continuous wire from a power source to a switch (or button), and a single continuous wire from the switch to the transbrake OR line-loc solenoid. One splice (no quick-disconnect) is permitted from the two-step to the solenoid (i.e., between the switch and the solenoid). All switches, buttons, wiring, solenoids, etc. must be for normal automotive use; i.e., not intended to create a delay (adjustable or non-adjustable) between release of the button and the resultant action of the solenoid. All line-loc/transbrake wiring before and after the switch must be separate from any other wiring and fully visible. Computer wiring, sensors, relays, and the like may not be wired to the solenoid wiring. Two-steps or other rev limiters that are adjustable by thumbwheel, replaceable chips, and the like may not be within the driver’s reach and will preferably be located outside the driver compartment. Any system that does not fit the above description is prohibited and technical inspection will be grounds for immediate disqualification"must be corrected before the vehicle will be passed through preevent technical inspection. Further, discovery of a delay device, adjustable or non-adjustable, at any time following pre-event The red font above states that only thing that can interupt the transbrake wiring is a splice to the 2-step only. This means that if you would also like to hold the line-loc on the starting line to prevent the car from "settling" you must have a second button to push. Trust me I think it's stupid. I also use the line-loc on the starting line because I stage so shallow the car had a tendancy to "settle" backward and cause an instant red light. I now have 2 buttons on the steering wheel, one for the transbrake/2-step and a second for the line-loc. Push and release both at the same time, works the same just a little more difficult to wire. None of this applies of corse if you are running in a class that allows a delay box. I figure in the stock, SS section this was a SS so everything I posted would apply.
