Default master cylinder question

Want to upgrade a 71 Cutlass to a more lightweight aluminum and plastic one to replace the lump of case iron now in the car. What fits and who makes one along with an adapter plate to take the 4 bolt config. to a 2 bolt style?

Olds used two styles of iron master cylinders. One is slim and light, about 5 pounds.

Cool Re: master cylinder question

Go to your local Napa store and ask to see a M-2456 master cylinder. Might just be what you need. I have a '68 Chevelle wagon that needs one.

What is your brake system (i.e. Drum, disc/drum, disc/disc)?
I run the Strange #B3360 MC on my '70 Cutlass... disc/drum.
Slight modifications are needed....

Rallye Bob,
Please define slight modifications. Do you need a plate to mount it and if so where did you get it or did you fab your own?

Thanks

No Plate. Used the top two mtg studs (X-power brake car) on fire wall. Had to file the mtg holes in the master cyl. a little as they are narrower spaced, than the mtg stud spacing. also had to mod. the push rod to fit my peddle arm.... It was not difficult at all... Works great.
