From what I've read, pure stock can run race or pump gas. Has anyone recently gone thru fuel check with pump gas ?

Pure Stock is an IHRA class and they do not have fuel check at the Pro-Am races,so unless you are planning on going to a National event, you probably could even run VP113 and nobody would even know.

Pump gas at division races as they don't have fuel check. I had good luck running VP C10 (unleaded) back when we ran pure stock. Although it wasn't cheap.

If you are in Pure stock they do NOT fuel check you due to the newer cars emission controls. They may take a sample but they would not DQ you. They are just looking.

white amaco was always recomended back in my day. You still had to stop and get checked unless waived by........If you did not stop you could get dq'd as you would not be on the fuel check sheet . You had to at least be in line and explain to official.....Don't know about current status.

Pump gas is really impossible to check or police . And that's because pump gas can be one of hundreds of combinations . There are numerous manufacturers of gasoline with their own combination of additives, and many thousands of gas stations in North America . A very few branded stations purchase and sell only their brand of gasoline . Most are free to purchase any gasoline on the market , depending on which brand is cheaper at the terminal on a given day . So the gasoline you buy at the pump , in most cases could be any brand and probably won't be the same brand that it was last week . And the standards for pump gasoline are fairly relaxed compared to the standards for race gas . The ethanol content in pump gas can vary 2 or 3 percent from brand to brand , day to day . And there are pump gasolines that have no ethanol at all . And to add to the thousands of possible combinations of gasoline , there are 2 or 3 choices of octane at every pump , all of which have a different chemical make-up .
So setting benchmarks for testing pump gasoline would be impossible unless you allowed a pretty wide variance or the sanctioning body restricted pump gas to only one or two brands . And even that would be very difficult to police due to seasonal and regional variations . |

It's understandable how difficult it can be to test pump gas. I just hope that when I'm in line for fuel check, I get waved thru, and the person checking fuel is on the same page. Thanks for the info.
