Default why would you do it..........

My question is why would you do it. What I'm talking about is at St Louis, pay $250 entry fee, x amount in gas, get there and its raining, then be told, oh by the way even though they dont pay any entry fee, they dont park in the stinking oval and oh yes, they get all their qualifying runs, but you sportsman will see one run then eliminations. Oh i forgot, you didnt know this before you entered. This is like ordering a cheeseburger at Mickey D's and its spoiled, they will give you another one, but NHRA, just says, sorry about your luck, (ps we got your money already).
I know, nobody made you go, but still i feel its not right, every sportsman racer should at least get 2 runs.
Maybe I'm wrong, but i feel its not right.

"Why would you do it"?

A race fan of SPORTSMAN racing, ONLY !!!

so your telling me you will pay what ever it cost to run a national event even if they tell you , one or no time trails and go for it. I was just asking a question above, thats all, but i guess like you said what ever it takes to race, wow, hope they dont hear that.

I was just asking a simple question in my main post. Didnt figured or thought i would get bashed.

Turttle;
I sometimes worder the exact same thing. I'm not knocking anyone that chooses to run NHRA national events, but I do wonder sometimes. It's surely not something I have any desire to do. Just look at the recent events that have taken place at Gainesville, Houston and now St. Louis. I'll just be content to run the 6 LODRS races here in Div. 2 and make the most fun out of it that I can.

One thing I always will remember is this. Serveral years ago I traveled alot with a friend of mine that runs a stocker, and we ended up unexpectantly at the IHRA national event held at Rockingham the first year of Bader taking over IHRA. I will never forget seeing Bader standing at the front of the staging lanes, shaking hands with EVERY racer that came through, and thanking them for being there. Would you ever see this with NHRA? I believe pigs will fly first.

I have a brother-in-law who was diagnosed with lung cancer and today he was told he had 6 months to live. Life is short...we race because we love it. Yea, we'd all like to have more runs but when we're old and grey, sitting on our front porch looking back on our lives, will it really matter that we only got one run? Or will it matter more that we were able to partake in something we love to do and spend time with friends and family doing that?

you guys are correct...we do it for the love of it, ya, you may get only 1 run, no one can control the weather.....and yes, the sportsman (Stock/SS) take the hit.....

You pay a high entry fee, you don't get much sleep, you drive for hours, you pay a lot for gas, you take time away from work, etc, etc, etc, ... cost of the car, trailer, truck, extra parts, etc, etc................WHY??????????

for the Love of it.........

what a love/hate relationship.....this must define class racing, you all have it, it is in your blood, can't live with it or can't live without it?

you do it for the love of it........

He who dies last, must pay the bills....
Is that a 'Hemi'?

Just curious if the run schedule posted for tomorrow at ST.LOUIS.is a mis print or not? It says Super pro ET? or is it suppose to say SuperStock.
or is this really just the first step in sending us packing?

Yeah, Turrrrrttttllllleeeee, you must really be a huge fan of Sportman racing only. I bet you'd be the first to post how unfair it would be if there were no more Sportsman classes at national events, giving you 24 less sportsman events to be such a big fan of.

Julie,
Correct We sweat, borrow, drive all night, are sleep deprived just to be there. The friends and family are why we do it. That why people still do it even if they supposedly are so upset by it. "Friends, " and History.
This is why many go to discouaging events and worrisome rules and dont try other organizations. History.and Friends.
And if all goes fairly well --- getting to race.
We Love It. and I still Do.
