Took a poll at Indy during a rain delay and Mobil 1 was the choice of at least 2-1 over everything else in stock and SS. No consensus on viscosity.....10/30 works for us.

I have an IHRA crate motor Stocker, but oil preferences/applications should be the same for SS.
I use Amsoil 5w-20 Dominator all the time with great results. There are thinner oils as well. But you would need to ask engine builders what their preferences are for oil viscosity based on bearing clearances and reliability. Amsoil also has 10w-30 and 15w-15 in their Dominator series as well. |

Is whatevers on sale at walmart really have enough zinc in it for anything other than a street motor?
I wouldn't use any oil that didn't have racing in it's title |

I became an Amsoil dealer, and hung their name on the side of my car, because I like what they have to offer. The Dominator line is excellent stuff, and should suit you well. I am using 10W-30, but the 15W-50 would be a little more protection. Just might cost you a little ET.

From David Canitz @ Royal Purple. Drag race oil recommendations
We recommend the XPR 10W40 if your main bearing clearances are > 0.0025 We recommend the XPR 5W30 if your main bearing clearances are 0.0025. We recommend the XPR 5W20 if your mains are in the 0.002 or less.
