Default Question about Precision Performance Shifters

I have a TH350 with a automatic 1-2 shift forward valve body for the car I am putting together. So the only shifting I have to do is the 2-3 shift. I was going to use a gate type shifter like the one ATI sells so I dont have to pull a handle while moving shifter lever at the same time. I have heard alot of good things about the Precison Performance shifters. My question is do you have to pull the little handle and move the shift lever at the same time to make the 2-3 shift? If so is it a pain in the but? Looking for opinions. Should have not been so cheap *** and bought the electronic valve body trans and this would not have been a issue LOL.
Thanks
Rob
