As many of you know Brainerd International Raceway S/SS COMBOS WILL BE
2 DAY, 2 RACE EVENTS. What are your comments or concerns likes or dislikes wit this? Thanks! Glen DeMenge Racer admission (general admission) and race entry are separate fees. Racer and spectator admission is paid at the front gate while race entry will be processed at BIR's Shirt Shack. BIR Season Champion cards will cover both general admission and racer entry. Otherwise a general admission ticket must be purchased by anyone entering the facility. This includes all Racers, Crew, and Spectators, as well as anyone wishing to “drop” a trailer. Again kids 12 and under are free this year. (Including the NHRA Nationals) Please be honest about the age of your children. If we find that this is being abused we will stop the policy for everyone. Race Entry Fee (Racers also need a General Admission ticket for entry) Stock/Super Stock - $90 per race Bracket Class - $65 per race Includes: Super Pro, Pro ET, Sportsman, and Bike/Sled Trophy Classes - $25 per race Includes: Comp Trophy & Street Trophy Jr. Dragster - $20 per race Includes: Jr.Advanced (13-18 year olds), Jr. Intermediate (10-12 year olds) & Jr. Novice (8 & 9 year olds) Licensing Passes - $55 per weekend Jackpot - $50 per race Friday - Open Test & Tune - $55 per day Basic Test & Tune. Make as many runs as time allows. Jr. Dragster Test & Tune - $25 per day Points Fund - Cash Payout Classes $35 Points Fund - Non-cash Payout Classes $20 (Trophy & Junior Dragster Classes Racer and Spectator General Admission ADULT: Thurs-Sun $45 Fri-Sun $35 Sat-Sun $25 One Day $15 Again, if you are looking for more information please go to www.brainerdraceway.com or a link to the bracket page is Last edited by MEXJOE; 02-08-2013 at 06:21 PM. |

In past years, BIR had a hard time finishing one race in two days, I question whether they will be able to pull this off. I know the car count has been down and they have been finishing early on Sunday. If it works as planned, it will be a good program for everyone. I will try to support it. Dyno

A 'prorated' payout I'm affraid won't draw many more Class cars.
Glenn---do you have what our average S/SS combo car count was? The way I read it, we need AT LEAST 36 cars to have $1,000 to win...vs our $205 weekend entry ($25 gate fee included Sat-Sun). The 2-day event is something long over-due in my opinion. What I don't get on BIR's website it states 1 time trial, and 1 qualifying run prior to each event. Why not make them BOTH Q runs?

As for payout it's quite simple. the more cars that race more $$$ for payout that you can win. If everybody would just show up AND race, the payout is VERY good in comparison to a divisional race or a national event. If we have 32 cars it will be $1000 to win Sat. AND $1000 TO WIN Sun. (2 SEPARATE RACES 2 SEPARATE PAYOUTS.) 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday. Entry fee is $90.00 per day and a $25 Sat.-Sun. general adm. So you'd actually be racing for $2000 to win VS your $205 entry / gate fee) AND HAVE 2 CHANCES TO WIN IT! NOT JUST $1000 Now with 2 day events you double your chances to win $$$ for the cost of 1 tow. It seems to make economical sense to me. The time trial / qualifying statement is simply a misprint. Both runs WILL BE QUALIFYING PASSES!!! I will have this addressed ASAP in order to eliminate confusion & put wondering minds at rest. I like it!
I don't think running Jackpot is a good idea however. Jackpot was good when only Jr's and S/SS were running eliminations, but with all classes running eliminations each day, it may be challenging to finish on time or by the curfew.... I think we averaged around 30 last year. Tim |

Hi Tim
I think 30 was the average S/SS car count last year. I don't think that a (jackpot) race will be run. Just a complete elimination race for every class each day. with 2 "Q" runs on Sat. and 1 on Sun. Quote:

I understand the MATH Glenn, I just would hope the Class cars show up to have a good payout. What I've never understood is how a track like Thunder Valley (which is like driving down Hwy 10) can get 40+ cars, and BIR...a Top NHRA facility struggles to get a 32 car field. I HOPE this NEW program fixes the car count issue.
BIR's Bracket program/payout is FANTASTIC! $65 entry per/day ($25 gate fee), $2000 win (after run off). Of course, that's 2-3 rounds more to WIN to get there. So on the Bracket side, you can pay $155 for the weekend and run for a guaranteed $4000. Just have to figure out which car I bring up for the events.

Well, I guess it was 25 I stand corrected!
How ever: 32 cars will pay $1152 to win and not 36 as previously stated. Last edited by MEXJOE; 02-08-2013 at 06:25 PM. |

I know what you are saying about the time management.
This is a concern of mine as well. We are all going to need to cooperate in order for this to work smoothly. It was time for BIR to do something fresh to bring in more racers. My hat is off to them for trying such a bold move. I think it has excellent potential. Lets give this a shot before picking it all apart we need a place to race and I can't think of a nicer place to race that BIR.
