Maybe interesting, was for me
Last weekend in Omaha, Nebraska, the PGA held the Senior PGA Open tournament which was won by Kenny Perry. Since he has won a couple in a row, the big wigs were pressuring him to fly to England for their Sr Open....I guess over the years Perry has not gone overseas much, so he declined, said golfing for 8 weeks in a row, was ready to go home, which I guess is in Elizabethtown, KY He elaborated more by saying: I'm going to pick up my new COPO Camaro and go drag racing....he said he races at Bowling Green He further said (or was misquoted) its fun and scary to go 200 MPH in a quarter mile |

I believe he drove/owned a pro-mod or T/A style car at one time. I'm sure if you google it you can find it. Jay Don Blake also a PGA pro has/had a T/A FC

yep, was racing for a little bit with Billy Glidden (who I guess isn't too bad a golfer either when he's got the time) with an old Gary Jennings Calais setup for NMCA Steeet-legal stuff, might still have it..........liked the low key aspect of NMCA / heads up street legal stuff over NHRA, I guess.

He was talking about it in his champion interview.
The full question and his response from the USGA transcript: Q. Kenny, after you and Michael took divergent paths after Hole No. 13, I asked him what the conversation turned to, and he said he started talking to you about some hot new car you have coming in. You want to tell us about that? KENNY PERRY: GM makes what they call a COPO Camaro. This is a factory drag race car. You can't even license it for the road, and it's made from GM. They only made 69 of them last year and 67 of them this year. I actually knew the right people to where I could get my hands on one, where I could buy one. So I got to go up there next week and pick it up. I love to drag race. I got a lot of real fast cars. I like to go 200 miles an hour in a quarter of a mile. It's very thrilling. It's so different from golf. This is slow pace. And when you're in a race car running that hard, it scares the life out of you, but I like it. I like speed. So that's kind of what I like to do.

Kenny Perry is a good ole Kentucky boy from Franklin, Ky. just down the road from Bowling Green. Same town as Gary Summers. I never knew he was a drag racer. With that new car maybe he will join us for some of our combo races.

Yep Kenny has a grand am that Jennings built and plays with that some. Bill Glidden does the motor work and he has ran the car at Ohio valleys outlaw shootout races. It has a five speed in it as well so its a cool ride. He also goes to some races with Billy and hangs out when he isn't golfing.
