Sad to report that Bob Bond , longtime Div 3 racer passed away Monday July 15th. Bob was 85 years young, as he always seemed that way. He ran Super Stock back in the heyday of SS racing and was for many years asociated with the Rod Shop. He ran the former Bill McGraw Charger.Later on he built a Super Gas Camaro and then a S/G Corvette. His cars were always beautiful and immaculate.Bob was still racing last year. He was somewhat a bigger than life racing hero around here and will be missed.

I remember him and his Rod Shop cars, the charger and later the camaro. He was a first class guy always willing to help a fellow racer. At National Trails(Spring nationals) I had a cracked distribtor cap which caused a backfire which lifted the top off the crossram on my AMX. I was able to patch it up and run that day but Bob took manifold back to his shop that eve and welded the cracks and installed helicoils in threads all at no charge. Not many folks who would take that much time to help a fellow racer who at the time was not even a close friend.
R.I.P. Bob
