Default 4130 chrome moly tubing

What is the correct TIG wire for welding 4130 tubing ?

HI Kenny. The wire that any welding supply store would recommend is 70s-2. If your tiging .065 wall tubing. I would use 1/16 thick. At about 70 amp's setting.

I use ER 80S-D2 and ER70S-D2. Some guys I know even use 308 Stainless filler.

The correct wire is actually ER80S-B2 which is 11/4 CR 1/2 moly same as 4130 tubing the D2 is 1/2 moly and S2 is for Mild Steel only.

ER80S-D2 or ER70S-6, 1/16" for most work.

.045 wire for thinner metal and 3/32" for heavier stuff like rear ends & 4 link brackets.
