Congrats to Rick on the class win... check out the espn3.com qualifying show, which can be streamed again. I watched it live, and then over coffee this morning. They also ran the factory stock final. Its about 2/3rds of the way through, after Funny car, before top fuel.

Link to the streaming video:

The ladder for a 19 car field puzzled me at first, as I always thought #1 and #2 meet in the final, but not on a 19 car sportsman ladder.

I can see now there are ups and downs of laddering up, based on the qualifying sheet, and not who actually shows up for each round.
Seems like we took the shorter route to getting done (before the ladder system), when the pairings were matched up in the lanes.

Congrats to all the racers and class winners!

In the post race interview Rick reminds us of his previous 4-speed. I saw him many times at Irwindale and Lions row that 4-speed and he was always very good 45 years ago. When there were better manuals in later years he went the 727/904 route along with many others but he has returned with a vengence! Glad to see you back in the Winners circle Rick. I am sure Joe Allread is smileing!
