Default Slower class racers+ car hoarding?

I'm wondering, am I the only guy that is like a cat lady, but for odd cars? I'm olny devoting time and effort to one car, my 79 Buick, but in the meantime stuff keeps following me home, as it has for years. Back in the demo derby days it was either wreck it, or trade for something to wreck. I havent derbied in 3 years, but folks still give me cars to derby. Now I look at the cars and go "wonder how it would do?" I notice some class racers have had a few different cars, so maybe this is ok?

Please tell me I am not alone!

Your bringing back memories. Cadillac drill a hole in the carrier so you can weld the spiders fill it up with cement. ---Trevor

You're not alone! My buddy and I have 3.

The only one that presently runs is the Olds, incidentily the slowest one of the bunch. My old 66 Chevy II, our bracket car. Getting real close to finally getting off the it's jack stands and being a roller again. We have a 79 Firebird body (10th anniversary Trans Am at that). I have so many parts for but really wonder if I'll ever take the time to try and put it together. It was meant for the crate motor class in IHRA. We occasionally debate whether to drop it and concentrate on other endeavors. D@*$ I have a lot of really good parts for that car!

My buddy is looking at a 4th car, he wants a driver. It also may have a future potential.

Wish I had a fraction of the smarts of a Billy Nees, Mark Yacavone or Dwight Southerland. Those guys can make just about anything run. They had to pay their dues. That's what racing is all about. It all takes time (and money) and being willing to learn. Take the lessons, don't be afraid to try things.

Anybody with a Visa card (or deep pockets) can make a good combo run. In my case, my old friend Toby Meek used to tell me, concentrate on one car at a time. Which I've never had the good sense to do. Always stretched my funds too thin. Guess that's why I took 20 years off.

It is funny now. I too, drive down the road. See cars for sale and wonder. What has it got for an engine? What class might it fit? What might it take to run it's index? This is sort of a disease!

Whew, glad I am not the only one! I've got my 79 Lesabre, a 75 Hornet wagon 232 (was thinking 77 with a 258), 66 Bel Air ex-327 car, 82 Grand Prix 252 V6, my ill-fated 78 Fairmont wagon 200 6, and now this 80 Mustang 2.3. I'm gonna pull the manual brakes, rack, and rearend out of the wagon for the Stang, trade the shell and the 66 to the wrecking yard for parts credit, and that will clear some room. Main thing is have the Buick running this month! Of course, I'll get rid of 2, and find 3 more...
