Default Door handle/arm rest on stocker with cage

I am working on a roll cage for a car in stock eliminator. Is it legal to remove the stock door handle and door arm rest to have some extra room for the side bar?

Thanks
Bob

I would say... If you move the stock OEM type handle forward or down or reposition the arm rest and redo the upholstery,...No one would even notice or care.
Now , if you want to put a lever style handle sticking out the top of the door panel, like a Super Gas car, I'd say don't try it

Been told many times by several tech guys that removing the arm rest for roll bar is ok, Door handle mechanisms in Stock must remain stock. Jim

Thanks for the replies. I can leave the door latch handle where it is. The arm rest is the real problem. Looks like I can remove it though. Thanks again.

Maybe before you ditch the armrest I'd suggest you sit in the car and try closing the door without it. That was one of the things that bugged me about the previous bar in my car is no armrest to grab and close the door. A little creativity on the new bar allows me to replace the armrest now. That's just my preferance. Doug

It turns out I can't remove my door handle after all. Not because of rules but because it is all one piece. It looks separate but when I pulled the panel off it is one piece.
Is it legal to run the side bar right along the top of the handle and then bend it down to the floor just ahead of the handle? It will still be at the right height where it meets the main hoop. Also how close to the floor does the door bar have to be attached to the vertical tube going through the dash?

Thanks,
Bob

My understanding has always been that it doesn't matter much where the side bar is mounted (within reason) as long as it crosses between the shoulder and the elbow.
Of course, you would keep the front low enough so you can get in and out.
I always custom bend my side bars so I can open and close the door and not smash my elbow against it when turning the wheel.
This is one of the reasons I don't use roll bar kits.

because i wanted my interior to remain all original, we just bent the side bars to go around the arm rests
