1970-72 classification of 68 chevelle ss 396/375

What classes in 1970-72 would this car fit in stock and super stock? Thanks!

Trick question? You can't fit a 1968 in a 70-72 class. 1968 Chevelle would run A-B-C in stock...E-F-G in superstock.

Wondering what class a 68 chevelle ss 396/375 would have been in in the early seventies. Both stock and super stock.

I have NO reference material at hand...but will guess maybe B/Stock....and Super

really hard to say. probably was rated lower than 375 in early 70's and different for stock, superstock, and likely manual or auto. for sure pre "AHFS" days..

Building a barn find super stock clone. Basically everything is early period correct except the engine, a 496.

Think it is a ss/ea but not sure what the classifications were then. Were stick and auto together? Anyone got 70-72 rule books that can look it up?

if it is being built for competition now what does it matter what it was in 1970 to 1972?

According to my handy "1973" rule book, Super Stock was in half pound increments with A being 6.00-6.49 B-6.50-6.99 and so on down to O where they went to one pound increments.

In stock, A was 8.00-8.49 B-8.50-8.99 and so on down to O, where they went to one pound increments.

No idea what the horsepower rating was then.

1973 was also the year stock rules changed quite a bit but I don't remember if the weight breaks changed.
