Hello all,
First time poster here, I've been searching and browsing through thread after thread and have had a lot of questions answered just by reading. I'm considering getting my feet wet in in the Super Stock GT world and would like any advice, input anyone may have. The car is a '69 Mustang Coupe, the engine is a '70 351C 4V. I suppose given the date codes of the engine blocks/heads produced between '70 and '71 I could claim either year, and it appears as if rated HP for cleveland's of either year is 300hp. Sound about right? GT seems to have broad weight limits and it looks like I may be able to run GT/F, GT/G, or GT/H based upon heaviest V8 in a mustang in 1969 and the rated horsepower of the cleveland, plus adding up to 250lbs? to shipping weight? I'm curious where this combo of car/engine might best be placed. Carburetor, to my knowledge, Quick Fuel 780 VS is the carb to use on this engine? Cant find anything particular in writing, don't know if it depends on what I claim the engine is or not. I am set on running the cleveland, it's a project engine that I inherited from my Father so I'm gonna go with that engine. Not sure about building for Super Stock or not...Looks like guys in GT/F thru H run anywhere from low to mid tens on a daily basis. Doesnt seem to un-reasonable when it comes to building a cleveland. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any and all replies! |
