Looking at transmission options for the new LS/Stock class. Features the DR525 LS-based sealed crate engine that makes 525hp/489tq with a 6600 rpm limit on the class spec tune. Minimum weight is 3300 lbs. Transmission choices are TH200, 350, 400, Powerglide. Given that everyone will have the same weight, same horsepower, same tune so I need to reduce driveline rotating weight as much as possible while maintaining some durability to make it through at least one season.
Popular consensus will probably say "Proflite" but I'm looking at the Coan XLT-350. At this power level I just don't think the different gear ratio options of the Proflite will give it any advantage but I wanted to hear from racers who have experience with either transmission. Same with TH200. I don't think that many ratios are going to be of any use with this engine. Last edited by ShadowLands; 06-22-2014 at 07:01 PM. |

200 or 350. I would put more first gear than stock 2.52 in 350. You will spend more on a 350 to make it as good as a 200.
