Advice from local racers appreciated.
My route of choice from North Jersey to NED: 208N - 287N - 84E - 90E or 20E - 495N - 125N - 101E Any major construction or problems to be encountered with this route? Thanks

495N has some night construction. We were stuck in it for 30-45 minutes on our way to the National Event. They bring the highway down to 1 lane. I think it begins around 8 or 9 pm.

We usually go 90E to exit 10, and then take 290 E to 495N, it's a bit quicker. Also, depending on the time of day, it can be much easier to stay on 495N to the end, and take 95N to Route 101W.
During rush hour, 125N can be miserable with all the traffic and stop lights. |

Take 90...RT 20 is more a back road with a lot of lights, not worth the few bucks you will save in tolls

I agree with the Sparago girls ( how could you not ) . However 125N has two or three " easy in easy out " fuel stops ( including diesel ) so you may want to consider filling up just prior to the track .

Your other option which I have liked is to go like you are going to Lebanon Valley, ie 287N to 87N to 90 and follow that to the Mass Pike(also 90) to exit 10 290 to 495. Yes you pay the tolls, and its a bit farther, but can be drama-free. If you go the 84 route, to avoid hartford, take 684 to 91N back to 84 then follow it along to the mass pike. Pike often slows down right after you get on it at 84. If you are in rush hour traffic, it will slow down on 495N in chelmsford where lanes merge, also take care of the bridges in chelmsford right after the rest area, really crappy bumps at least for my moving city. Do not ignore the Bump signs in Massachusetts, they can be pretty big! Constuction as always is a moving target, sometimes the signs claiming work boldly lie. If you opt to go the 93-101 route, 93 north during rush hour traffic can be brutal, off hours you are going to be drama free, but you will add some distance, 125 is certainly shorter, but has traffic lights, some fun 55 to red ones too. On 495 if you opt to go the 95-101 route, traffic north of 125 isn't usually too bad, and other than adding a toll, is traffic light free, you can also hit the liquor store on the highway just south of the toll for hard stuff. Beer and food you can get down on 125 at Market Basket likely the cheapest supermarket chain in the country. Diesel as noted can be found along 125. I fill up on the one on 125 just a couple miles down the road from the track(a right out of the track exit) They also sell beer, milk, bread etc, and have a dunkin dounuts and a sub shop there too, if you are using it for standard gas, be careful, of your in and out at least with trailers. Also just down the road from the track on 125 is Stratham Tire, in the event you need trailer tire/Rv tire/toter home tire. Also walmart etc. Eric

from 495 in Massachusetts I definitely recommend 125 north. Yes there can be traffic but this time of year with tourists heading to maine the 95 corridor can be a nightmare. There is a state liquor store on 125 in Plaistow along with the other good services previously mentioned.
Hope to welcome lots of racers to New England this weekend. Bruce Deveau |

If you take Rt 125 North off of Rt 495, Haffner's Service Center, and Jack Haffner's Store is up on the right after the turn at the 2nd set of lights.
EZ access for Diesel trucks, RV's & trailers, and they have "Tall Self serve Wash bays" as well! Jack Haffner's Store next door features some "Killer Klub Sangwiches" Proud Sponsor of the ASRA |
